Anyone who knows me (or sits by me long enough) is already acquainted with something I dare to imagine will be what I dearly hope someday to become a reality and a journey I will never forget- traveling to the UK and walking in the steps of history (and inspired literature) that has enchanted me since I was a child. In the meantime though my mind may be: wandering up the steep paths to the Glastonbury Tor or planning ahead to trek the hills to Haworth, Top Withens, Ponden Hall and sitting down and becoming bewitched body and soul at Chatsworth House and also scouring the beaches and cliffs of Lyme Regis for forgotten fossils, lingering in the shadowed lanes where Saucy Jack once hunted, touring the now quiet historic battlefields and towers as the crow (or raven) flies and of course standing dressed to the nines (large picture hat with my cache of pearls included) in The White Swan Hotel's Olympic Restaurant (to name but only a few items on my long list of anticipated excursions) but some part of me still needs to be grounded in this current place and time unfortunately. That part nevertheless requires the vintage touch in my everyday life also you see and another search on ETSY has brought me just that with another discovery of a hidden treasure: English Vintage Design What caught my immediate attention (besides the beyond irresistible banner that called out home to my wandering soul) was the unique one of a kind selection that this charming shop offered with hand painted swirls and dabs of shades of every color in nature but it also held a special surprise for this classic book collector in the end. It only hit me as I was happily losing myself in looking at the delicate individual artistry with such fitting names as: "TATTERED ROSE", "DEADLY NIGHTSHADE", "PURPLE VELVET", "MISTY ROSE GARDEN", "ROAMIN IN THE GLOAMIN", "ALICE BLUE GOWN", "CRANBERRY SAUCE", "PURPLE TOADFLAX", "BURGUNDY SHIMMER", "LICHENS", "IRIS" (sorry I can assure you there there are many different pigment combinations (and lovely whimsical vintage items connected to nature and lush country gardens to be found) covering every spectrum of color but my eyes go straight to anything purple, rose related, green, pearl/gold themed or bluish-green), and "PEACOCK & PINK" etc that one selection (one frosted white flower pair) on the final page brought this directly to mind and I had to stop and smile: Being one of my favorite books (THE ACCURSED KINGS series is such an understated collection of works that I highly recommend to anyone who loves good old fashioned storytelling and quill dips of sinister adventure, tales of revenge, courtly intrigue and clever battings of "what if") I couldn't believe my luck of finding such similar styled earrings (can't find those in the states, believe me I've looked and asked) and I immediately started building up my lists of items I would like in the future (those earrings included) from this store, I acquired quite the basket of goodies to think further on and was slowly narrowing down my choices when I saw the deciding pieces I had to have (the accompanying descriptions were masterpieces of advertising and so inviting- as are every little summary within this shop). Here are my new treasures to share: Two of my favorite seasons beautifully encompassed in ornamental jewellery form (the above pictures don't do these exquisite fashioned pieces justice) to have with me everyday and custom made earrings to match any choice and to add a much needed class and delicate grace to my earring wardrobe (they are so dainty and pretty- perfect for any occasion). In addition to all those positives, the owner was an absolute gem to work with on this order and I would like to thank her for sharing her finesse with a brush and eye for color and detail with the world, I will definitely be back at this charming shop soon. Not even a week later I saw these sets of earrings and couldn't resist, they arrived packaged with such care and attention, are so light and just lovely (unbelievably comfortable to wear that at times I forget I have them on). The hand painting of the flowers are so beautifully done that they honestly look they they have been gathered from some enchanted garden. Needless to say, I don't want to take them off and I now must have a set from every unique color listing from this shop. Absolutely love them! englishvintagedesign.etsy.com Comments are closed.
