Is there such a style called "Esoteric Grace", "Arcane Elegance" or how about "Gibson Lady Goth"? Well if there isn't I'm only too happy to dub it so as I have found such a connection with marrying certain eras of bygone elegance, meaning and powerful lasting energies together and surrounding myself with trinkets and wardrobe/makeup choices with these elements in mind. Hence another late night important search and discovery that landed me this time at the doorway of Terra Stones Astoria and in the end adding a little more to my authentic self. Here's what I found: Detailed Swan Sterling Silver Earrings Absolute stunners of a special personal affinity (Yes, little dark hearted/8th house-ruled, poison and dark history obsessed me has a soft spot for swans...judge me as you will, haha). A long search is finally over! These trinkets are esoteric grace at its finest (perfectly sized for the work setting; just like everything extraordinary and worth exploring in this world, you can't see the untold beauty until you get close then you want to learn and examine more). Perfect starter pieces from this lovely shop, I look forward to returning to add to my jewellery casket and more to my personal style. Detailed Ouroboros Snakes with Mother of Pearl Sterling Silver Earrings These gorgeous ouroboros ear drops represent so much to me and I'm over the moon a long search is over and the style (they are the perfect melding look of art nouveau and arcane), detail and quality are just the icing on everything. They just glow in the light, become the profile and the energy these dainty though powerful trinkets give off is inspiring and timeless. I simply adore them. Terra Stones Astoria 1772 Cold Cream Orange Flower Toilet De Flora Body Cream/Makeup Remover A life-long repurchase reunited once more upon my vanity table. I can't recommend this cold cream enough, it's the best I have found from anywhere, takes on the most stubborn eye makeup (even waterproof just melts gently with this formula), never breaks me out and smells heavenly with a soft orange flower/almost less sweet dreamsicle quality scent. One jar lasts me about 6 to 8 months. This is my choice pick on my vanity table and my favourite part of my morning (after work shift) routine. 1901 Rose Cold Cream- Victorian Recipe/Bulgarian Rose Essential Oil Full honesty- I tried this rose cream once as a traditional cold cream/makeup remover and didn't see the results I always notice with my 1772 Orange Flower jar and promptly switched back, however, I found this thick cream worked wonders on my under eyes, on my cheeks for rough and dry spots and that sublime real rose scent now slathers my elbows and back of my arms before I go to bed. It may have not exactly worked out the way I intended with removing all of my stubborn eye makeup in one easy swoop like the 1772 jar but it still has found a place upon my vanity table and recommendation list. 1918 Violet Massage Cream For The Neck & Shoulders Aphrodisiac/ Makeup Remover Violet Cream This was an impulse purchase that has held several benefits in store but above all it has tremendously helped with my RA hip pain that always springs up with the rising humidity and storms sweeping through this time of the year and tackled my knee and muscle tight/sore spots after intense workouts. That right there says it all. A little dab goes a long way as it's more of a slick textured formula and spreads easily. In terms of scent, if you adore the fragrance of Sixteen92's Hydromancy- meet a cream you can slather to your heart's content with an oddly similar aroma (yes, it can be overpowering on me as I amp this particular floral and I can clearly smell the medicinal almost metal violets when I wake up after rubbing this cream into my skin before falling asleep but it helps my annoying aches and it still falls as a 100% recommendation.) LittleBits/LBCC Historical Apothecary 3 distinct shades and 3 definitive personalities based on 3 fascinating historic women and moods captured in stunning shades of deep roan and pink-blue reds. Absolutely what I have been looking for and I love the vintage packaging ElizaCosmetics presents her recreations in. The formulas are gentle on the lips, deep toned and smell (and taste) wonderful with a smack of cocoa. I can't stop vamping in the mirror and topping it off with a "Boop-boop-a-doop!", haha. Theda- The darkest lady of the trio. This shade was originally a Halloween costume custom purchase last October for my Vampire Flapper idea (RIP that lost night) but one coat and I was completely under her spell, felt transformed and that somber lipstick shade immediately found her way into my makeup casket. It is a true gothic hue of brown-red resembling dried blood and dying roses; perfect recreation of the shades vamps and smokey-eyed silent sirens on the silver screen wore in the earliest days of Old Hollywood. *Inspired by the original Vamp Theda Bara Initially I purchased the nail polish of Theda then had to get the lipstick to match. The formula of the nail polish is impressive lasting several days without chipping and minimal streaking for a deep red-brown colour. Full coverage in about 2 coats but for a richer depth I went for 3 coats. Others commented my fingernails looked like I had dried blood at the tips- perfect! Louise- Slightly more of a lighter hue with say more garnet than maroon in Theda, still dark and mysterious and to be honest the lipstick I grabbed more often through autumn and winter (and even into spring until I was introduced to Marilyn). I never wore such daring shades before trying samples from this little nifty shop and I'm so happy I stepped out of my comfort zone. Being well lily complected to put it nicely (better than saying ghostly pale, haha) I somehow always believed I couldn't wear red lipstick without looking ridiculous or harsh, little did I know it's only the right cast of red that makes the lady. *Inspired by the enigmatic Louise Brooks Marilyn- The newest gal to join my vanity table and one more reason I'm loving to vamp in front of the looking glass these days. This one is a deeper rose pink lipstick that is my personal spring/summer shade (there is a reason this colour is a top-seller). You can never go wrong with anything pink-red I'm finding out this year (wait until I ramble about Progeny from Pariah House Cosmetics coming up; pink is nothing to fear!) *Inspired by the Blonde Bombshell Marilyn Monroe Salome Hair Pomade (scent of Bergamot, Lemon, Orris, Rose, Lavender, Jasmine. creamy Vanilla, Sweet Tonka, Civet, Toffee notes of Opoponax absolute.) In my most recent order I was surprised with a sample of the hair pomade version of Salome and a few twists of strands and pins released later and my softly defined curls waft this powdery musky allure around me that harkens back to the ultimate heyday of glitz and glamour. On me, more creamy lavender is noticed with an underpinning of musky non-gourmand vanilla. Just hypnotic, refined and I love how this formula plays so well with my fine hair that tends to frizz and expand this time of the year. Very impressed. *Inspired by Rita Hayworth Needless to say with all these marvellous self-care, makeup choices I've discovered for myself since January from across the indie realm, I'm ready for what (and whom) may come my way this 2022-2023 Venus Return. |
