The word stunning doesn't even begin to describe my experience with Dark Tales and my necklace. Picture this, being greeted by a cascade of lovely little dried rosebuds when you open your parcel and being dazzled by the flash and glitter of tiny glowing jewels surrounding a piece of mini art that brings to mind the quote "a touch of magic in this world obsessed with science" (if you know what movie that quote is from, you are immediately my friend) which you can't wait to take out for the night in addition to no camera photograph truly capturing its strange alluring beauty. Finally to end the experience 2 beautifully presented perfume vials that hold their own stories and a corked vial of tea that promises a tannic fruit-filled escape. THAT'S what you will get with Dark Tales and I will be back for more (seriously jump on these prices while you can, you won't be disappointed!). Poison Bottle Necklace | Alchemist | Gothic | Victorian | Vampire Blood *discontinued Described as a blend of magic, dark romance and mystery and this piece is all of these things and more as it looks like it belongs on the neck of historical-fantasy's title enchantress or horror siren in a Victorian drama. The flash and glitter of the different stones allows me to match this necklace with any outfit I wish and the true strange beauty of the vial holds my attention long into the night as I can't stop staring at the intricate details and puzzling how this sealed over vial looks so much like coagulated blood (coming from a nurse to say, that is quite the feat and should be applauded as strange as that sounds) or lovely wicked poison if you are squeamish, and yet if someone were to casually glance at this piece they would only see a high-quality trinket with twinkling stones and small red glass vial; I simply love I can wear this to workplace setting and still feel elegant and entirely unique. My box also contained a few extra samples of the different kinds of curious wares this shop holds. I must also comment on the level of detail and attention that is apparent in the packaging of every product. EVERYTHING just looks like it is from some wonderful mysterious fairy tale and tied with fitting black ribbons. Perfume Oils Morning Powder (White musk, Honey Peach, Rose, Geranium and Vanilla) My skin is unfortunately sensitive to glycerin so I have been brushing a tiny bit into my hair in the morning. And this is a beautiful vintage rose that wafts around with a drop of peach and honey. I love the description on the site talking about clean morning sheets, but this oil reminds me more of a luxurious bath of tea rose petals and drop of peach juice with vanilla honey. On me, Morning Powder is definitely more rose forward and I'm impressed the peach isn't morphing and staying true. Very nice🌹 Old Library (Bergamot, Basil, Rose Tree, Cedar, Vanilla, Vetiver, Peruvian Balsam) *Inspired by "The Name of the Rose" by Umberto Eco Out of the two vials, this fragrance is my favourite as I get this wood laced spice/herbal blend that catches my full attention throughout the day and it's easy to imagine this being the fragrance of a medieval monastery library complete with aged manuscripts and dusty rose petals between the stacks. For longevity, these perfumes tap out at about 4 hours on my skin and 13+ hours in my curls. They aren't obtrusive to those around me which I greatly appreciate as my workplace has a strict fragrance policy. Loose Tea Midnight Fairy (composition of the "Midnight Fairy" includes a mixture of classic black and green teas, candied fruit, rose petals, cornflower, and natural aromatic oils.) I'm still a novice tea drinker, but I know what I like and I LOVE this tea blend. In the corked vial I clearly smell luscious peach and that note continues to enchant my senses as I steep this brew. I enjoy my tea cold and fizzy and Midnight Fairy makes a splendid bubbly tea as I call them when it is added to a carbonator with a drop of honey. It's refreshing, sweet and delicious and I would absolutely purchase a full bag or go for the lovely tea sampler this shop offers. Overall: I was extremely impressed with everything I was presented with and I have a strong feeling this won't be my only review about Dark Tales this year. Dark Tales |
